| Korfball Over the Summer (Nick) | Added 3 days ago | Although korfball at uni starts to slow down it doesnt mean you have to stop playing the game. I know we have the summer league coming up, but I thought I would also point you in the direction of some clubs thats might be more local to you when your back home over the summer.
All clubs would be more than welcoming, they love to get new talent along to the clubs and get more numbers involved. Not only that you might learn something new :)
Ill point you in the direction of this:
http://www.englandkorfball.co.uk/comps/index.php?opt=comps_club_finder&Itemid=126
which has a pretty comprehensive list of clubs around the country, but if in doubt just write on the tag board and someone will find your closest club. |

"Wales Korfball to South Africa
I am delighted to announce that after some deliberation Wales are now fully committed to sending out a team to South Africa to compete at the Korfball Commonwealth Championships at the end of July.
History
Korfball in Wales, as well as the Welsh national team, have been growing from strength to strength recently and the WKA are hoping to carry on this trend this summer. Recently the team fought their way to the final of the Eurobowl, winning the Western division tournament in Luxembourg, and only loosing out in the final game to Slovakia.
Wales have represented themselves in all of the Commonwealth and Friends tournament so far, and will be carrying on this trend this year hoping to follow on from the success that they have experienced at the tournaments so far.
Trials
Trials for the team to be sent to South Africa are being held on Sunday May 4th in Cardiff (venue to be finalised). Due to the current position that Wales are currently in (a new National team coach is being sought after) these trials are purely for players interested in representing their country in South Africa, and it is envisaged that a new trials will take place for the full squad once the new national team coach is finalised.
Wales would encourage as many eligible people to attend these trials as possible, whatever your current level of korfball experience. This includes students, non-national league players, as well as current Welsh players and top level korfballers. The trials will be open, friendly, and should give everyone a chance to experience a high level of korfball.
Can all people who are interested in attending the trials please let the organising committee for the tournament know asap – email nickw5@hotmail.com. Of course if you have any questions at all on the tournament, trials, or Welsh korfball in general then also get in touch.
Please note usual eligibility rules apply for representing your country (get in contact if you are unsure).
Tournament
The tournament is being held in Pretoria, South Africa from 30th June to 7th July. This is, without a doubt, a fantastic opportunity for any Welsh korfballers to experience both a wonderful country, and also top level korfball against a range of korfballing styles and play. It would seem too good an opportunity to miss.
Notes
Wales are currently seeking a sponsor for the event, but anyone attending the trials should be aware that they may have to pay for the trip themselves. This includes flights and accommodation.
Finally we realise that the time frame from these trails to the tournament is relatively short, and Wales can only apologise for this as various tasks and decisions had to be finalised before a final decision on the tournament could be made. However we are now fully committed, fully enthused, and fully excited for the tournament and playing top level korfball with a fully committed and fully enthused team." |
